The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for this opportunity will be responsible for product quality and quality systems for ceramic components manufactured for the aerospace/defense industry.  This position will actively participate in problem solving and continuous improvement activities in the quality and manufacturing environment. This position will also be involved in supplier development and customer interface.

As an Advanced Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading the quality and continuous improvement efforts with ceramic components for aerospace / defense customers
  • Implementing all elements of quality systems which will include:
    • Internal audits
    • Incoming Quality Check (IQC)
    • Lean Six Sigma
    • Supplier development
    • Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA)
    • Root Cause analysis
  • Determining product acceptance per customer technical data package requirements.
  • Supporting the production group in assuring shipment targets are met by efficient processing of quality documentation and product evaluation.
  • Willingness to be on-call when the production group, engineering group and/or the customer requires support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Four (4) years of manufacturing experience in an engineering role in a private, public, government or military environment
  • One (1) of project management experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • defense / aerospace industry
    • Aerospace Standards (AS9100)
    • ceramic processing
    • precision grinding
    • Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM)
    • International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14000
  • Previous experience in a direct manufacturing production and/or production support role
  • Proficiency in basic statistical analysis
  • Ability to conduct visual inspection
  • Proficiency in report writing
  • MS Office proficient, Minitab a plus
  • Skills include:
    • building relationships with customers
    • working together with production and administrative groups
    • verbal communications with all levels of personnel

Work Location:  

  • Clarkston, GA

Travel:  May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation:  Is authorized
