Veterinary Medical Center | Medical Center at DublinThe College of Veterinary Medicine’s Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the Dublin Orthopedic Surgery Care team.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting faculty and technical staff with patient assessment, treatment, and general care.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with diagnostic imaging procedures (radiology and CT)
Performing in-house biochemical laboratory testing
Supporting surgical preparation, including scrubbing into the operating room and assisting with sterile procedures
Cleaning, preparing, and maintaining surgical instruments
Opening and closing operating suites
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of clinical and surgical spaces
Supporting inventory management and stocking supplies
Filling prescriptions
Communicating with clients and assisting with patient discharge
The role requires a strong understanding of biological parameters, including the ability to recognize normal versus abnormal values, as well as proficiency in animal restraint techniques and veterinary patient care practices. Candidates must be comfortable obtaining vital signs on stable patients and accurately documenting information in the medical record. Strong communication skills are essential.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean and efficient work environment, which may involve tasks such as dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, and trash removal. The position requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and successful completion of a background check.
