What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
As the Canva US Team continues on this exciting period of growth and traverses the ever increasing complexity of the state and local direct and indirect tax landscape, we are expanding our team to include a Indirect Tax Manager. This newly created role will provide the opportunity to get creative and learn fun indirect tax things!
Job Description
What you'll be doing:
- Ensuring that Canva meets all its indirect tax compliance obligations for the US
- Delivering global accounting and reporting of indirect taxes for financial statement purposes, including supporting any provision balances
- Collaborating with other teams to attend to all month / quarter / year end reporting obligations on a timely basis
- Supporting the establishment and continuous improvement of internal controls, including preparing process documentation to support audit readiness
- Continuously monitoring feedback from our customers and internal stakeholders to identify ways to improve experience, including developing content for our internal and external help desks
- Diving into complex indirect tax technical matters and finding solutions for business needs
- Working closely with the Group’s external tax providers
- Championing the adoption and use of technology and automation to make tax truly painless for everyone!
Qualifications
You're probably a match if:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in US state and local indirect taxes including sales, use, digital services, and gross receipts taxes
- You come with a technical background with a detailed understanding of US indirect tax technology platforms
- You are experienced in performing and maintaining documentation of US indirect tax nexus analysis
- You have demonstrated experience in cultivating cross-functional relationships and communicate complicated tax technical matters to all levels and business functions
- You have project management and organizational skills with the experience to prioritize multiple competing tasks in a dynamic environment

We make hiring decisions based on your skills, experience and our overall assessment of what we observed and learnt in the hiring process. The target salary range for this position is $130,000-$180,000. When calculating offers, we make salary decisions based on market data and candidates' skills and experience.
