Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead the identification, engagement, and acquisition of new banking partnerships. This role is critical to expanding our strategic footprint, driving revenue growth, and enhancing our value proposition through innovative financial collaborations.
Job Function & Responsibilities:
- Research and assess potential banking partners aligned with our strategic goals, market needs, and customer segments.
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospective partners through direct outreach, networking, and industry events.
- Coordinate the end-to-end deal process—from initial contact through to contract execution—ensuring alignment on value creation, compliance, and long-term viability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, digital, legal, risk, marketing, and finance teams to structure, launch, and scale partnerships.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments and transform into innovative actionable plans for revenue growth, investment or operational enhancement.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Ten or more years of Banking experience
- Five or more years of leadership experience and/or management of a strategic relationship
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships or strategic sales – preferably within financial services or fintech.
- Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating and closing complex deals
- Strong understanding of banking products, services and regulatory considerations
- Strategic thinker with hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with digital banking, embedded finance, or BaaS (Banking-as-a-Service) models.
- Ability to rally around a vision and hold team members, both internal and external, accountable
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
