The School of Medicine Employment Operations (MEO) group is a centralized, service-driven organization responsible for delivering high-quality faculty recruitment and employment operations across the School of Medicine. MEO partners with academic, research, and clinical departments to support the full employee lifecycle that enable the School to advance its missions of education, discovery, and patient care. The Senior Faculty Recruiter provides advanced, professional-level support for faculty and clinical associate recruiting for assigned customer groups within the OHSU School of Medicine (SoM). As a team member in the School of Medicine Employment Operations (MEO) group, this role operates with a high degree of independence and discretion across the spectrum of assigned responsibilities. This position regularly partners with departments across SoM to develop and implement full-cycle, strategic faculty recruitment plans. The position is also expected to serve as a subject matter expert on one or more key responsibilities. Under limited direction from the Senior Manager of Faculty Recruiting, the Senior Faculty Recruiter plays a critical role in facilitating consistent, positive, and impactful candidate engagement for hard-to-fill positions. This position will develop and adapt recruitment strategies aimed at attracting and retaining talented members to join the team. You will work closely with hiring managers to establish recruitment processes, timelines, sourcing and marketing efforts for your assigned requisition load. This position frequently partners with leadership to address non-routine issues, strategizes unique solutions, and ensure compliance with unit, institutional, state, and federal requirements.

 

The Senior Faculty Recruiter proactively identifies opportunities for process improvements and develops standard operating procedures for use across the MEO group. The role requires critical thinking, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt workflows to meet changing operational needs while upholding service excellence.

 

This position serves as a trusted resource for department leadership and staff. By fostering collaborative relationships and implementing practical solutions, this position ensures consistent, high-quality support aligned with institutional goals and priorities.

Function/Duties of Position

Strategic Faculty Recruitment:

  • Partners with departments across the School of Medicine to implement full-cycle, strategic faculty recruitment plans (in accordance with Strategic Faculty Recruitment SOP) for designated requisitions/departments.
  • Influence hiring teams to promote successful outcomes.
  • Conducts intake meetings with hiring managers to understand and refine job criteria with a focus on identifying ideal candidate profile.
  • Reviews job postings to ensure alignment with OHSU values and employment brand, using inclusive language and ensuring the posting is compelling to candidates.
  • Executes innovative strategies to attract diverse, qualified talent.
  • Screens candidates and work with hiring committees on the selection process.
  • Manages candidate communication and the candidate experience, planning proactively for candidate interactions throughout the process and responding to requests and concerns that arise with promptness and empathy.
  • Works closely with candidates through each step of the process to ensure a seamless and exemplary candidate experience.
  • Provide guidance to SOM hiring leaders regarding all areas of recruitment, including leading an inclusive process, addressing concerns during interviews, and making equitable decisions.
  • Attend career fairs and events throughout Portland, Oregon, and the US in support of faculty recruitment, in collaboration with other team members.
  • Collects and analyzes data regarding recruitment and retention of employees; develops recommendations for policy or procedure changes based on data.
  • May assist with writing, submitting, and delivering faculty/fellow/APP offer letters.
  • May work with staffing and locums agencies, in partnership with department and Recruitment Manager, for assigned requisitions.
