The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Position Overview

The Director, Head of Investment Innovation and Integration is a senior leadership role within Liberty Mutual Investments’ Global Liquid Markets (GLM) team. Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Investment Innovation, Integration and Trading, this individual leads a four-person team dedicated to enhancing the scalability, adaptability, and effectiveness of GLM’s investment processes.

 

The Director serves as a catalyst for innovation—embedding quantitative rigor, institutional insight, and modern workflow design into the core of GLM’s platform. By collaborating across functions and fostering a culture of curiosity and experimentation, this leader enables more dynamic decision-making, improved investment outcomes, and greater organizational agility.

 

This is first and foremost an investor role. The ideal candidate brings deep capital markets expertise and a strong grasp of investment dynamics across fixed income and macro strategies. They will be able to pair investment insight with innovation execution, ensuring all solutions are grounded in a clear understanding of alpha generation, portfolio construction, and risk-taking behavior.

 

Success in this role requires a proven investor who can operate at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and technology—capable of guiding and executing strategic initiatives across a complex, cross-functional environment.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

Strategic & Platform Leadership

• Define and lead a strategic roadmap that advances how investment decisions are made, supported, and scaled across GLM.
• Identify and lead high-impact opportunities to modernize workflows and strengthen alpha generation across fixed income and macro strategies, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of the platform.
• Design and evolve an advanced performance diagnostic platform to better understand investment strengths and weaknesses, promote transparency, and fuel a cycle of continuous improvement.
• Partner across GLM and LMI to integrate innovative thinking into strategic planning, leveraging both internal insights and external best practices.

Execution & Integration

• Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve strategy formation, signal processing, and operational workflows—including both tactical, team-developed tools and enterprise-scale applications developed in collaboration with LMI Product and Technology.
