Position Overview
The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Building/ Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform grounds maintenance at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI). The Building/Grounds Maintenance Workers will also serve as an assistant to carpenter, painter, plumber, electrician and engineer in the performance of a variety of semiskilled work. This position will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on lawn care equipment i.e. push and/or riding mowers, tractors, weed eaters, sprayers, spreaders, and other power equipment.
Essential Functions
- Performs grounds maintenance at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI).
- Serves as an assistant to carpenter, painter, plumber, electrician and engineer in the performance of a variety of semiskilled work.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on lawn care equipment i.e. push and/or riding mowers, tractors, weed eaters, sprayers, spreaders, and other power equipment.
- Picks up rubbish and debris.
- May occasionally provide guidance and direction to new employees, student workers and/or seasonal employees.
- Participates in departmental meetings and other meetings and trainings as needed.
- Performs other dut
