The Thielen Student Health Center at Iowa State University is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tests that assist in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases. This full-time position offers a set weekday schedule (Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM), so you can enjoy weekends, holidays, NO on-call.  Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of complex and routine diagnostic laboratory tests with a high level of accuracy and precision.
  • Analyze, validate, and interpret test results; communicate critical findings to providers in a timely manner.
  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze specimens including blood, urine, and other body fluids.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to support appropriate test selection and specimen collection techniques.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of lab protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor inventory and manage supply orders to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to students and entry-level staff.
