Purpose

The Director of Operations directly supports the Chief Operations Officer. The position oversees multiple locations and oversees the day-to-day operation of an assigned business unit which is geographically, or customer based. The position is tasked with ensuring operational processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with the overall strategic goals of Bluegrass Supply Chain. 

Requirements

 Job Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments to ensure alignment and coordination of activities. Serve as a liaison between operational teams and senior management, conveying progress, challenges, and recommendations.
• Maintain a customer-centric approach, ensuring that operational decisions and initiatives are aligned with customer needs and expectations. Solicit feedback and make adjustments as necessary to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Implementing and monitoring quality control measures to ensure products or services meet the company’s standards and customer expectations.
• Continuously analyze operational processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality. Implement changes to optimize workflows and procedures.
• Managing the team member experience (TMX) that includes workforce planning and resources allocation.
• Provide leadership and direction to operational teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Set clear expectations, provide guidance, and support professional development initiatives.
• Manage resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials to ensure optimal utilization and allocation. This may involve workforce planning, budgeting, and procurement.
• Assess and implement technology solutions that can improve operational efficiency and automation of warehouse processes.
• Identify potential risks to operations and develop strategies to mitigate them. This could include contingency planning, compliance with regulations, and ensuring safety protocols are in place.
• Represent the company’s core values at all times.
• Other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or an industry-relevant field required
• Master of Business Administration strongly preferred
• 10 + years’ experience in leading an operations team
• Hands on experience with WMS systems
• Expert knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and project management skills
• Strong leadership and negotiation skills
