This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by coordinating all aspects of end-user technical training which will provide staff the skills to adequately and efficiently document patient care. By managing trainers and tracking milestones of the training project plan, the supervisor will ensure that technical needs of end users are addressed.Job Description
Job Duties
- Prepares and adapts educational curriculum for diverse learners.
- Delivers in-person and virtual training to end users.
- Utilizes tools such as Epic, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Applies adult learning theories to guide training design.
- Facilitates or assists with simulation-based clinical education.
- Communicates clearly with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Incorporates evidence-based clinical content into training.
- Coordinates and collaborates across teams to support learning.
- Creates and maintains workflow documentation using tools like Visio.
- Gathers and incorporates learner feedback to improve training.
- Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.
Department Specific Duties
- Coordinate schedule of technical training with available resources.
- Hire and supervise Epic Trainers.
- Manage Super User program.
- Supervise Super Users.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with both time and daily activities. Must be able to track all training milestones to ensure tasks are completed on time. Coordinate high volume of end user class scheduling.
- Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to inspire and motivate a team of trainers.
- Ability to establish rapport with hospital staff and management level staff.
- Self-starter; ability to initiate projects, plan own activities and make decisions within the framework of the responsibility and authority of the job.
- Must possess self-confidence in ability to facilitate &/or teach both large and small groups.
- Ability to lead others and supervise a team of technical trainers. Must be able to set clear expectations, monitor progress and follow up with feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Responsible for motivating end users and other trainers, as well as serving as a liaison to department managers.
- Serve as positive role model and function as a change agent in creating a preferred future for staff development and continuing education.
- Ability to operate audiovisual/ computer equipment.
Professional Experience
- Experience in staff development and/or adult education required.
- Epic training experience required.
- Healthcare industry experience is preferred.
- Prior leadership experience is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, education, or related field is required.
- Master's degree in nursing, adult education or related field is preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
- Certified EPIC Principal Trainer required.
