Job Description
The role
To support our ongoing expansion across the Americas region, Checkout.com is now actively seeking a highly-driven and accomplished Risk professional, experienced in payments and technology, to join Checkout.com as the US Head of Risk based in Atlanta reporting to the Global Head of Enterprise Risk. The Head of Risk will be responsible for establishing the Risk Management Framework in the US and ensuring it adheres to the regulatory expectations of Checkout.com’s licence. The Head of Risk will be responsible for the oversight of the framework to measure, monitor, report and control risks inherent in the payments business.
Globally the Enterprise Risk Management department is responsible for setting the risk management strategy for Checkout.com. Team members work across functions, products, and regions to monitor front-line performance and ensure that the business is on safe footing. The department produces management information (MI) reports for relevant regional and global committees and entity boards. As the US Head of Risk you will be responsible for ensuring the enterprise risk framework is properly implemented in the US entity running the US risk committee and providing Risk Management updates to the board of the US regulated entity.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience dealing with regulators and senior management in a payments-focused, banking or other regulated financial institution and act as the senior person responsible for Risk legal entity and regulatory matters within the US. The ideal candidate will be highly strategic and will deploy an owner mindset. They will be well-organised, adaptable to the changing demands of the role, and capable of independent and autonomous decision-making to drive Checkout.com’s ambitious expansion goals in a fast-paced environment.
How you’ll make an impact
Amongst other duties, the incoming Risk leader will be responsible for:
- Be responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework for our regulated US entities within the Group framework ensuring it aligns with and adheres to relevant US regulatory requirements
- Provide the Board and management with guidance on risk-related topics and questions
- Ensure timely and comprehensive responses to risk issues identified in audit findings and reports of examination
- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of risk-related information for audits and examinations
- Be the Risk Management responsible contact, working with other senior management in the US and at Group, to respond to regulator inquiries and assist in licence application requirements
- Responsible for setting up and running the risk governance structure and committees as needed in our US regulated entities.
- Oversee and assume overall responsibility for Risk management reporting in line with external and internal requirements.
- Work closely with the Group Enterprise Risk Management functions to develop and implement entity specific policies and procedures to comply with local regulations.
- Work collaboratively across the organisation and especially with the 1st Line risk owners to support the identification, evaluation and quantification of risks.
- Be responsible for monitoring Checkout USA’s risk profile through KRIs, incidents and other risk monitoring tools including perform risk assessments
- Contribute to the development of Checkout’s cross-functional elements of our global risk management framework
- Play a key role in strengthening risk awareness and culture at Checkout.com
- Assist in maintaining and managing the Business Continuity Plan for Checkout USA
