Title: Future Ready Coach (Impact Lead II)

Status: Full-time, Non-exempt (40 hours per week)

Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday 9:00 am-6:00 pm With the possibility of additional morning, evening, or weekend hours to accommodate meetings with program partners, schools, caregivers, and special events

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Future Ready program equips students with the academic and/or vocational & job skills they need to overcome obstacles on their way to college graduation and their future employment pursuits. Future Ready staff focus on supporting young adults ages 16-24 with a goal of growing the number of youth served from 20 clients in 2024, to 100 by the end of 2026. While our program includes counseling on how to apply, complete financial aid forms and choose the right college, we also develop our students' social and emotional skills, including how to ask for help, access resources, build support networks, and maintain confidence. The Future Ready Program supports its students to and through college graduation. Students opting to pursue certification for other careers, such as the trades, or the military also receive support from club staff. 


The Future Ready Program Coach (Impact Lead II) works with the Future Ready Coordinator to provide the resources, support, tools, and navigational skills students need to successfully pursue and complete higher education, vocational training, and career exploration. The Future Ready Impact Lead II works with a caseload of post secondary students to help them with the college application process, their post secondary plans and play a key role in ensuring seamless implementation of the Future Ready Program. This program addresses the need for quality college advising in communities where few parents have attended college and where first-generation youth are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement Future Ready Programming: program goals, activities, and schedules at all program locations, and virtually as needed
  • Travel between clubhouse locations & off-site meetings at schools, universities, vocational programs, etc.
  • Assist with  Future Ready caseload of 50 young adults  to maintain program  engagement and help them pursue their postsecondary goals
  • Execute Future Ready programming (college readiness workshops, college and financial aid application support, career development skill building, personal well-being, etc.)
  • Build relationships with young adults  and understand their post-secondary goals
  • Maintain organized records, conduct research, collect and analyze data, draft reports & prepare and execute reports for internal and external stakeholders per stated deadlines
  • Develop, cultivate relationships, and manage communication with students, families, school staff, and other organizational partners
  • Support in the administration of the BGCMC Scholarship program, ensuring equitable access and support for all eligible participants
  • Solicit and facilitate alumni participation in fundraising efforts, leveraging their experiences and success stories to support BGCMC's mission
  • Support fundraising efforts through stakeholder engagement
  • Attend resource fairs, and other initiatives that connect participants with educational and career opportunities.
  • Support facilitation of alumni events, such as reunions, networking opportunities, and mentoring programs, to foster ongoing connections with BGCMC
  • Provide one-on-one case management support for all participants in the program
  • Create, input and track case management files
  • Facilitate workshops in person and through Zoom
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Oral and written fluency in spanish
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working with high school-aged youth & young adult students
  • Ability to assist with the navigation of completing high school, college application, & financial aid systems
  • Experience guiding youth through the college application process
  • Background working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups represented in Monterey County
  • Strong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience
  • Great organiz
