What you’ll be doing as a Laboratory Technologist:
- You will use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
- You will perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
- You will set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
What you’ll need to succeed:
- You have 3+ years' microscopic experience analyzing Clinical Patient Samples in the areas of Urinalysis, Hematology, or Parasitology
- You understand cell morphology for the samples in the bench areas above
- Ideally, you have experience with Beckman Coulter AU5800 Analyzers
- You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
- It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT), this experience and education would be a plus.
- Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).

- Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule:
- The hours for this position are Monday-Friday with alternating Saturdays (5-day work week, 40hrs/week, 8.5hrs/day with 30-minute clocked out lunch. When you are scheduled on a Saturday, you will have a weekday off).
The schedule requires a staggered start time, depending on the department the you are trained in and/or scheduled in after additional cross-training. Your start time could be at 6, 8, 8:30, or 9:30am, and your end time would thus be anywhere from 2:30pm - 6pm. The successful candidate can work the 8.5 hour schedule that falls between all those times.
