Summary:

Under the general direction of the Lead Case Manager, the Assistant Lead Case Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Lead Case Manager with the oversight and support of case management services in accordance with agency policy, TDFPS Minimum Standards, and ORR policy. The Assistant Lead Case Manager is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of case management services including the timely submission of reunification packets, service plans/other assessments and completing quality assurance activities. This position is subject to carry a small caseload as needed or for youth that are identified as being high profile or complex cases. This position also conducts initial intake interviews, provides orientation to new admissions and rotates weekend on-call duties and responsibilities with the Intake Specialist. The Assistant Lead Case Manager promotes best practice and facilitates the optimum delivery of quality trauma informed care and case management services to UAC.

Position Responsibilities:

• Actively participating in case staffing and stakeholder meetings and following up with recommendations;
• Compiling, preparing, submitting and maintaining accurate records, files, forms, statistics and additional information in accordance with agency policy, DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy;
• *Ensuring case management services are completed and documented within required timeframes and in accordance with agency policy, DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy;
• Completing and submitting reports within required timeframes;
• Ensuring maintenance of active and closed UAC records in accordance with DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy;
• *Coordinating placement of residents, conducting intake interviews and orientation, and assessing client needs and      strengths; 
• *Preparing goal-oriented assessments and progress reports and ensuring the timely completion of required documentation in case files and  the appropriate web-based databases;
• *Identifying prospective sponsors to facilitate the reunification process, and assessing appropriateness of release in accordance with ORR policy;
• *Attending weekly staffing and meetings with Lead Case Manager and stakeholders and following up with identified needs;

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, human services, social services or related field.
• Experience
  • Child welfare and/or case management experience is strongly recommended.

  • Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children;
  • Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
