Purpose of Job:
Leads manufacturing engineering activities of laser powder bed fusion machine development, manufacturing, and operations to meet cost, throughput, and quality targets in partnership with the Additive Technologies machine development and build teams.
The Role:
Create, update, sustain, and improve business processes across design, product, build, and supply chain teams.
Collaborate with design teams to enhance manufacturability at the piece-part, subassembly, system, and printer levels during product development phases.
Support and contribute to the development of enterprise tools (PLM, ERP, MES).
Manage configuration for capital equipment assets.
Provide technical support and guidance for supply chain activities, including planning, procurement, and inventory management.
Develop and refine processes within the manufacturing engineering group, including documentation practices.
Continuously improve and maintain comprehensive work instructions for assembly and manufacturing processes.
Ensure alignment of work instructions with production goals and quality standards through cross-functional collaboration.
Identify and implement design improvements to enhance manufacturing process efficiency.
Conduct DFM analyses to optimize production costs and cycle times.
Address and resolve issues in machine build processes.
Collaborate with machine development teams to improve reliability and performance.
Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize machine downtime.
Lead RCCA activities to identify root causes of manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
Evaluate, design, and optimize assembly fixtures and equipment to improve efficiency and quality.
Support supplier technical issues to ensure consistent product quality and reliability.
Design and optimize factory layouts for improved workflow efficiency, productivity, and safety.
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
Experience in LBPF or industrial capital equipment
3D CAD modeling and drawing creation
Supplier and production bring-up
GD&T and tolerance stack-up
Work instruction creation
Manufacturing process development
Factory layout
Experience using PLM systems
Hands-on skills in basic fabrication or assembly
Ability to effectively operate in a fast-paced, open environment
Highly adaptable and resilient
High passion towards a common mission
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Team collaboration with internal and external partners / stakeholders
Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
