POSITION SUMMARY 

We are seeking a Senior Director of Corporate Communications to lead Mirum’s internal and external communications strategy. Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Finance and Investor Relations, this individual will oversee the full corporate communications function, working in close partnership with Investor Relations, Human Resources, and other cross-functional teams.

This leader will be responsible for shaping Mirum’s corporate narrative, elevating our brand across diverse stakeholders, and fostering a culture of transparency and engagement internally. This position will play a pivotal role in positioning Mirum as a leader in rare disease innovation while supporting our growth as a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Corporate Communications Leadership
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with Mirum’s business and investor objectives and corporate brand.
    • Drive the continuous evolution and optimization of our communications and channel strategy through regular stakeholder feedback and use of analytics
    • Serve as a senior advisor to executive leadership on communications, reputation, and positioning matters.
  • External Communications & Media Relations
    • Lead proactive and reactive media engagement; cultivate strong relationships with journalists, industry media, and influencers.
    • Oversee the development of press releases, corporate announcements, executive speeches, thought leadership, and digital content.
    • Partner closely with Investor Relations to lead the development of public company disclosures, earnings announcements, and corporate events.
  • Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
    • Design and implement internal communications programs that inspire and engage employees, foster cultural alignment, and amplify Mirum’s mission.
    • Partner with HR to ensure communications support organizational development, change management, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Executive & Brand Visibility
    • Shape and strengthen Mirum’s corporate narrative and executive voice across platforms, including conferences, media interviews, and digital channels.
    • Support the CEO, executive team, and SVP, Strategic Finance & IR in communications planning, speechwriting, and presentation development.
  • Digital, Social, and Crisis Communications
    • Oversee Mirum’s digital and social media strategy to enhance visibility and engagement.
    • Develop and manage crisis communications protocols to mitigate risks and safeguard reputation.
  • Team & Agency Leadership
    • Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing communications team.
    • Direct external communications agencies and consultants to ensure quality, alignment, and impact.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: 

  • 12+ years of experience in corporate communications, with a strong track record in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including experience in a public company setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proven expertise in media relations, corporate storytelling, digital strategy, and internal communications within the healthcare industry
  • Ability to craft clear, compelling communications on complex scientific and business topics.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, counsel, and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in crisis and issues management; familiarity with SEC/FDA communications regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field preferred
  • A passion for Mirum’s mission and a collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit.

The salary range for this position is $220,000 to $250,000 USD. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to; skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geograph
