Description
Louisiana Key Academy, a Baton Rouge Charter School for Dyslexic children, is looking for a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) teacher to implement a strong STEAM program for students in grades K-5. The Elementary School STEAM Teacher will teach students in grades Kindergarten-Fifth to prepare them for middle and high school level STEAM classes. The ideal candidate would have teaching and or academic experience with computer science, robotics and other STEAM-related fields and a passion for working with children in K-5 grade.
Requirements
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Teach STEAM project-based learning units and lessons.
- Teach Coding and Robotics units and lessons.
- Teach Typing skills.
- Incorporate Art into units and lessons.
- Create projects related to real-world problems.
- Collaborate with and report to STEAM Master Teacher and Support Coach.
- Document student learning.
- Organize and manage inventory of STEAM supplies and equipment and the classroom environment.
Character Traits and Preferred Experience:
- At least 1 year of elementary grade teaching experience.
- Content knowledge in STEAM subjects.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple groups of students in a positive classroom environment.
- Experience with building/creating curriculum.
- Creativity and the ability to think outside the box.
- Comfortable learning about new technological teaching aids, topics, methods, robotics kits, equipment, and new software.
