Job Description
Job Summary:
- Production and purification of research-grade AAV vectors in support of client drug substance process development and characterization.
Scope:
- Up to 250 L-scale aseptic mammalian suspension (HEK293) cell culture in single-use bioreactors.
- Small- and large-scale transient transfection.
- Small- and large-scale clarification via depth filtration.
- Small- and large-scale flat sheet and hollow fiber tangential flow filtration.
- Column chromatography (e.g., affinity, anion exchange) and density gradient ultracentrifugation.
Leadership responsibilities:
- Coordinate scheduling, allocation of duties, training and new hire onboarding process
- Monitors the day to day operations of drug substance development and characterization process
- May support peer group lead operations
- Participates in training of other employees.
- Facilitate staff access to systems, controlled areas, etc. using approved procedures
- Participates in productivity tracking and prepares monthly metrics and quality reports.
- Assists in coordinating equipment maintenance and calibration.
- Participates in new hire interviews
- Participates in the overtime and weekend schedule as required.
Qualifications
Additional Preferred Skill Sets:
- Utilizing electronic lab notebook, data authoring/review/integrity following good documentation practices.
- Experience with Delta V and Unicorn software.
- Data trending (e.g., metabolites, viable cell density, flux, pressure).
- Buffer and tubing assembly preparation.
- Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and robust problem-solving ability.
- Industry Leadership Experience
Education:
- PhD degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
Additional Information
Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
