Description
The Medical Assistant / Surgery Scheduler is an integral part of the clinical team at the Department of Breast Surgical Oncology at BASS Medical Group’s Comprehensive Cancer Center in Walnut Creek. This position will perform administrative and clinical duties related to breast surgical oncology in an outpatient setting and assist in some administrative duties. This individual works closely with the clinical staff, front desk personnel, MD and Director. This position reports to the Director of Cancer Center and will have the following duties:
· Supervise and manage department MAs.
· Surgery Scheduling
· Scheduling appointments
· Responding to patient calls
· Prior authorizations as needed
· Data entry into Electronic Health Record (EPIC)
· Scanning and faxing
· Check-in patients for appointments as needed
· Attend staff meetings on a monthly and/or quarterly basis outside of office hours
· Process payments as needed
· Perform related duties as assigned by manager
· Taking vital signs and height/weight measurements
· Preparing/cleaning treatment rooms for patient examinations & procedures
· Assisting MD during procedures
· Practicing sterile technique
Requirements
Mandatory qualifications:
· Excellent customer service/interpersonal skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Comfort with interacting with the elderly and disabled
· Comfort with bodily fluids
· Strong computer skills
· Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Electronic Health Records experience (EPIC)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
· Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
· Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
· Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Strongly preferred qualifications:
- Breast Surgery office experience
- Surgery Scheduling
- Medical terminology
- Bilingual – Spanish
Requirement:
· 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient medical clinic
· 1+ Year experience as a surgery scheduler
· High school diploma or GED
· Hard worker who is enthusiastic

Compensation will be based on experience
Pay Scale/Ranges:
$17.00-$33.50/hour (and the hourly equivalent for salaried employees).*
