About the role

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (San Leandro, CA).

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs
  • Performs engine overhauls unassisted 
  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

     

This position does not require a CDL but it would be nice to have, a CDL may be required to obtain upon hire.

This position will be a part of the FTA pool, ORDER, FTA Drug Test

Open to any level of technician. Open to learning alternative fuels and EV technology. Open to chassis repairs, diagnostics, and inspections. 

 

Must be available to travel for training.

 

DOT
-    A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
-    Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older


-    A current valid license is required for this role
-    Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
-    This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations "


-    This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing."

 


Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

Experience: 
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
