About the role

The LATAM Core Banking Transformation team is driving platform modernization across 11 LATAM countries. The team is leading migration from monolithic Bank-In-a-Box platform to globally consistent microservices solutions across all lines of business including Services, Markets, Loans as well as Finance and Functions. We are responsible to meet regulatory commitments for LATAM and will define the blueprint for Core Banking modernization globally.

The IT Project lead will be responsible to ensure timely delivery of the underlying technology capabilities and partnering with Business, Operations and Functions to meet regulatory commitments. The candidate will work closely on governance and reporting as well as execution of the underlying delivery.

The IT Project Sr Tech Lead is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Accountable for significant direct business results or authoritative advice regarding the operations of the business. Necessitates a degree of responsibility over technical strategy. Primarily affects a sub-function. Responsible for handling staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides IT strategic direction for projects managed including developing detailed IT work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports.

  • Exercises influence over team budget, policy formulation and planning.

  • Has significant business impact through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes and industry standards.

  • Provides expertise in projects managed and demonstrates an advanced level of understanding of the principles of IT project leadership.

  • Possesses an understanding of client core business functions.

  • Directly impacts the business through contribution to technical direction and strategic decisions for IT Project Leadership.

  • Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties.

  • Utilizes comprehensive knowledge of multiple areas within technology to achieve technology objectives.

  • Responsible for resource management and allocation of work; acts as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts.

  • Provides in-depth and sophisticated analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in a related technology role and subject matter expert in overall field

  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects, including governance and stakeholder management.

  • Excellent influencing and communication skills and experience driving consensus among diverse stakeholders spanning Technology, Business, Operations, and Risk functions.

  • Experience across a broad spectrum of project management methodologies (eg. Agile, Waterfall) and ability to leverage best practices to achieve outcomes across diverse teams with different working practices.

  • Experience with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, or similar.

  • Experience delivering regulatory commitments and PMP or Scum/Agile certification is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills


    Education:
    • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
