About the Team

Workday has recently launched an Enterprise Data and Analytics (ED&A) Team to Transform and optimize the way Workday crafts and shares trusted data to drive actionable insights and data led innovation across the enterprise. To enable this strategy, the ED&A team has worked with the business to identify critical business areas in which data and analytics can make a material difference in the execution of Workday’s strategic goals. Each of these goals is being organized as a data product with a dedicated multi-functional team to drive a diverse set of data management, governance, and data analytics to realize relevant, measurable business change.

As part of this team and enabling this strategy, the Enterprise Data Governance Team will drive the creation of policies, procedures, and operating models that will improve the overall quality and reliability of data across Workday in support of operational and analytical strategic business outcomes.

About the Role

Reporting to Senior Director of Data Governance, the Sr Data Governance Analyst will support Workday’s analytics consumers to accelerate the speed of delivery and the trust of business in the analytics that they consume.

As a Sr Data Governance Analyst, you will interact directly with business partners to define key business terms, onboard and tag data, contribute to the enterprise data glossary, and help the business to move new data products into production by confirming access and security rules, data transformations, and data lineage that will result in a high quality data catalog for enterprise use. You will help the business to adopt Collibra as an enterprise standard for metadata on data assets around the enterprise.

As a part of the Enterprise Data and Analytics organization and our growing Governance team, you will be in an outstanding position to directly impact the future of Workday. About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with data classifications, data glossaries, and taxonomies with the ability to apply them to drive better data governance and quality.

  • 5+ years of experience working data governance principles and ability to translate them into standard policies and procedures

  • 5+ years of experience with successfully designing and implementing procedures to tag, classify, and define key data elements.

  • 5+ years of experience in data profiling

  • 5+ years of experience crafting and handling data remediation plans to resolve incidents or discrepancies pertaining to governance and/or data quality

Other Qualifications:

  • Superb interpersonal skills with track record of promoting the importance and value of data governance across the organization

  • Experience with Collibra or similar data cataloging tool is plus 

  • Ability to effectively work with business functions and business technology (IT) to define, refine, and document glossary terms within data catalog (Collibra)

  • Hard-working and proactive approach.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to collaborate on multiple initiatives or projects concurrently.

  • Ability to work independently while enjoying teamwork for results.

  • Experience in working with global teams.
