About the role

JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFK’s cross streets is named in his honor. 

Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. It offers a variety of services, including: 
•Emergency care 24/7 
•Orthopedic and joint replacement services using emerging technology 
•Cardiovascular services 
•Maternity care and pediatric services 
•Ambulatory surgery center 
•Imaging services 
•Outpatient Rehabilitation Center 

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Facilities is responsible for the following departments: Plant Operations, Security, Environment of 
Care, Disaster Preparedness, and Biomedical Engineering. The incumbent reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

The following are essential job accountabilities:

  1. Plan, organize, direct and control the facilities management functions, including but not limited to: planning, design, construction, alterations, operations, maintenance and disposal of plant facilities and equipment, life safety, fire prevention and protection.
  2. Establish goals, objectives, and standards of performance, develop and implement operating policies and procedures, interpret and enforce policies, standards, regulations and personnel codes.
  3. Responsible for implementing programs, establishing vendor relationships, and providing guidance and support to direct reports in an effort to effectively and efficiently operate all departments.
  4. Responsible for State and Federal mandates including but not limited to Joint Commission, Environment of Care requirements, Fire Codes, and hospital safety considerations, and environmental hazard remediation.
  5. Assures compliance with company standards and guidelines for major equipment and systems use and

replacement are utilized; assists in determining long range replacement plans and assists in the implementation of these programs.

      6. Lead, manage, and direct the activities of others towards the accomplishment of goals.

      7. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited academic institution.
  2. Five years of Acute Care Hospital experience and training in engineering, facilities management, business administration, project management or related field.
  3. Demonstrated progressive leadership experience which includes, but is not limited to, staff management, developing and maintaining a budget, project management, team building, delegation, customer service, conflict resolution, organizational skills, as well as managing multiple operational functions in a decision making capacity.
  4. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft products and other computer applications. Valid California motor vehicle license.

PREFERRED:

  1. Certificate in Hospital engineering and/or Masters Degree.
  2. Experience in hospital facilities management.

Advanced knowledge of California laws and/or regulations which includes, but is not limited to, Title 22, Title 24, HCAI, the Joint Commission, Life Security requirements and all other applicable requirements, codes and regulations.
