Job Description

Palo Alto Networks is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal  Technical Program Manager to join our exciting, fast growing company. This dynamic individual will have hands-on experience managing complex Engineering Cloud Security products  from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental knowledge of system software, release management, cross-functional program leadership, and interpersonal skills. You are a natural leader, inquisitive, a keen problem solver, and an excellent stakeholder manager. 

Your Impact 

• Provide program management leadership for initiatives across the cloud security team
• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of large cross-functional initiatives
• Work with Operations, Product and Engineering stakeholders to identify & manage program/project dependencies & come up with an execution plan
• Be the expert on release life cycle process and champion process best practices, metrics and high quality standards with your delivery team
• Provide clear, concise, transparent, and insightful status reporting to the team, executives, and a diverse set of stakeholders
• Lead efforts to resolve key project conflicts and establish appropriate resolution paths
• Create a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, mastery, innovation and learning
• Define, generate and assess metrics and key performance indicators for the program. Provide all necessary data to support critical decision-making through fact-based analysis. 
• Your role is people, data and communications intensive; it requires excellent leadership, critical thinking, independence, organizational excellence, data analysis, presentation and communication skills. 
• Proven track-record demonstrating leadership in projects and influencing key stakeholders through strong technical proficiency.
• Work independently to design, plan, and execute technical projects; distill data and articulate rationale for making difficult trade-offs.

• Understand the systems in their program space, the limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind architectural decisions.

Qualifications

Your Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• A minimum of 12-15 years relevant experience in managing programs in the Networking/Data Security/Operating Systems product landscape.
• Knowledge and working experience on Enterprise Agile processes and tools (such as Jira Portfolio or Jira Structure), Confluence, and other Atlassian suite of products
• Experience building dashboards that are consumed by all levels of the organization from the executive level down to the engineer level
• Comfortable hosting senior level leaders (SVP/VP) meetings and providing status/program updates
• What does a TPM do? Our TPM role is focused on working amongst multiple teams to deliver functionality that those teams are responsible for - The TPM is the “glue” that holds teams together and maintains a bird’s eye view over what those teams are delivering and how those deliverables fit together. This involves two aspects, both equally important:
  • The “Technical” part of “TPM” requires identifying dependencies and technical risks that affect the various teams represented
  • The “Program Manager” part of “TPM” involves scheduling, managing sprints, creating milestones, and reporting status - The interplay of these two responsibilities means that the TPM not only coordinates schedules, but helps the teams execute against their sched
