Job Description

The position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting and moving equipment, basic maintenance skills and the ability to follow cleaning procedures. Good communication and organizational skills are also important. They are also responsible for managing fitness programs and services and maintaining records of participation and progress, as well as enforcing safety guidelines and regulations. This position reports to Group Fitness Supervisor, Group Fitness Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that the group fitness rooms are clean, organized and well-maintained.

  • Responsible for maintaining and making minor repairs to equipment for group fitness.

  • Be able to accurately count and record amount of group fitness equipment/items and update inventory records into computer system.

  • Report any issues or discrepancies to management.

  • Be able to be a proficient user of excel, word, and other office software to create spreadsheets, weekly schedules, attendance sheets, videos etc.*

  • Ensure that all fitness activities adhere to the organization's policies and guidelines.*

  • Be knowledgeable about safety protocols and emergency procedures in case of accidents or medical incidents during classes.*

  • Help create and manage the group fitness class schedule, including class times, instructor assignments, and room allocations.*

  • Put up flyers in classrooms and fitness areas.

  • Make sure all clocks in classrooms, fitness areas are correct.

  • Identify group fitness equipment that must go into surplus inventory and keep track through spreadsheets.*

  • Label all group fitness equipment to respective classrooms they belong in.

  • If needed, move gym equipment to certain classes ex) move bolsters every Wednesday, Thursday at 5pm for designated classes.

  • Make sure class schedules match the schedules posted on the fitness.unr.edu website.

  • Ensure all electrical equipment is charged or have full batteries such as headsets, speakers, etc.

  • Daily room check to inspect equipment for safety, and ensure items are stored properly*

  • Ensure all pilates balls, stability balls, UFOs, Bosus are pumped up before classes

  • Ensure all rooms & turf areas used for group fitness have spray bottles, disinfectant (Lysol), hand sanitizer and wipes

  • Sweep Yoga / Reformer / Dance rooms on every shift

  • Ensure trash is empty in classrooms

  • Make QR codes and post on flyers; QR codes for FRS YouTube channel, fitness.unr.edu, other social media.*

  • Be prepared to recruit people for drop-in classes if attendance is low.*

  • Collaborate with other departments in the gym as needed, such as promoting a group fitness class on social media*

  • Ipads for virtual: charged daily, apps loaded, video capabilities, check out process, zoom

  • Upload weekly task sheet with dates of completion to NVBox

  • Additional duties as fitness coordinator sees fit
