The Managing Director of SEL and Culture will be responsible for creating and driving the Grow-the-Whole Child Model to drive exceptional outcomes for students, families, and staff. Responsibilities
- Effective Teaming
- Collaborate with network leaders to plan and execute summer institutes for school leaders, new teachers, and returning staff on social-emotional learning, culture and community initiatives;
- Collaborate with peers and the Management Team to refine, articulate, and continuously improve DREAM’s Grow the Whole Child model to achieve targeted results;
- Provide positive, collaborative leadership and participate in collegial problem-solving in a variety of situations and departments;
- Work closely with the Chief Education Officer and Managing Director Curriculum & Instruction to ensure the curriculum and pedagogical approach, effectively supports the Grow the Whole Child model and approach to SEL.
- Program Quality and Curriculum
- Ensure high-quality SEL Programming by creating systems and structures for curriculum codification and implementation;
- Working with the Schools Team, establish dosage guidelines and criteria for success for advisory, morning meeting, RULER, Tier 2 intervention, summer and Afterschool SEL programming, and adult SEL programming;
- Establish and ensure successful implementation of network vision for positive, responsive & restorative culture practices and systems to build a positive community among staff, families, and students (community gatherings, family events, staff SEL, student incentive systems, responsive interventions, behavior intervention plans);
- Lead monthly walkthroughs of all SEL programming across all school sites.
- Development of Dean of SEL & Community + Dean of Culture
- Provide coaching support to Principals around student culture, as needed;
- Provide dotted-line coaching and development of Deans of SEL & Community and Deans of Culture;
- Build capacity in Deans of SEL and Community and Deans of Culture in creating individual behavioral supports for students, including BIPs and FBAs;
- Progress monitor SpEd and RTB across DREAM’s schools and address areas in need of improvement with Deans of SEL & Community and Deans of Culture;
- Work with Deans and Principals to plan and deliver professional development sessions for staff;
- Monitor and support IEP meetings chaired by Deans and develop Deans in running effective IEP meetings;
- Provide monthly reports to school leaders that include SEL progress monitoring data, school discipline data, and staff performance updates of the DSC and DOC;
- Promote positive family relationships and provide guidance in complex cases;
- Create network-wide performance goals that get cascaded to Principals, Deans of SEL and Community, and Deans of Culture;
- Lead training and professional development for Deans of SEL & Community, Deans of Culture, and teachers, including but not limited to Leader Institute, Summer Institute, and monthly professional development;
- Lead implementation visits monthly with Deans of SEL & Community and Deans of Culture.
- Data, Evaluation, and Infrastructure
- Collaborate with Data team to ensure fidelity of all program data systems and high-quality data collection;
- Execute design and implementation of program innovation initiatives (including developing partnerships, logic models etc.);
- Oversee Deans of SEL & Community to drive the execution of SEL data systems, including SEL data administration and collection, data analysis, continuous improvement, and action planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, required; Masters Degree in Education and/or School Administration, preferred;
- Extensive leadership experience with a record of achievement in SEL for all children. Principal and/or charter school network leadership exper
