About The Internship:
Unite Us is looking for a Summer 2023 UX Research Intern to join our growing tech startup that is transforming health and social services.Your work to incorporate facets of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into our existing library of user personas will become a scalable way to help us create informed, inclusive, accessible, and empathetic experiences for our users that can inspire and drive user-centric changes at all stages of product development.
Our 8-week summer internship class runs from June 5, 2023 - July 28, 2023
What You'll Do:
- Creatively explore how to represent the diverse needs of our users through our user personas. User personas are a critical tool in UX research that allow companies to effectively design experiences for the right audiences.
- Build your UX research skills, creating a project plan, conducting industry research, synthesizing and analyzing research data, writing a research report, and gaining experience with Figma.
- Design and conduct research on multiple aspects of how users from different backgrounds and abilities experience our current and future products.
- Identify the best quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
- Collect and analyze user and industry demographic data.
- Craft compelling narratives about our users' needs, attitudes, aspirations, expectations, obstacles, and motivations as they relate to the facets of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
- Translate and present your findings in a creative, compelling, and scalable way and incorporate them into our existing persona library
- You’ll also shadow and participate in a range of UX research activities, assisting researchers with various team needs such as shadowing user interviews, using analytics to drive decisions, creating card sorting and usability tests, and more.
You're a great fit for this Internship if:
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Information Science, Data Science, Statistics, Human Factors, or other related field.
- You have familiarity with user personas and how they are utilized as a user research and design tool.
- You are familiar with basic user research methodologies, such as user interviews, journey mapping, and data analysis.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills, written communication, and collaboration skills.
- You are empathetic and curious, and have the ability to connect with and relate to people to understand their needs as users.
- You have a deep desire to apply user research toward improving the world for health and human services through inclusive design.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
- This position is remote, U.S. based - PST timezone preferred***
- This internship is $22.50/hour for 35 hours per week
