We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to work with its Hospitality Global Business Unit’s R&D Team.  This role is responsible for actively participating in the definition of Oracle Hospitality Hotel Cloud Native Applications architecture while providing guidance to our product development and application operations teams. We are seeking an engineer to help driving our end-to-end cloud strategy to ensure that our product development and operations processes are aligned with a “True Cloud” vision

The successful candidate will be technically adept in cloud technologies, possessing a broad combination of skills and experiences, and who does not mind rolling up his/her sleeves to make the team successful.  This role requires that you be technically curious with a strong desire to understand how things are built and work. This role also requires a forward thinking and openness to new technologies and approaches while remaining vigilantly focused on regulatory strength and maximum availability.

     Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, review, and debug large-scale, microservices-based 
    cloud-native enterprise applications using Java and Oracle databases.
  • Build and deploy containerized applications through fully automated 
    CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deliver high-quality software that is observable, performant, horizontally 
    scalable, and supports zero-downtime upgrades.
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts using the Karate 
    Framework, adhering to defect prevention guidelines.
  • Collaborate within a small, agile team of 8-10 members while working 
    closely with Oracle Hospitality’s broader development team of around 60 
    agile teams, integrated into the larger Oracle organization of 159,000+ 
    employees.
  • Create prototypes and propose efficient solutions based on the requirements or from a given problem.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology.
  • Leverage cloud-native technologies to build highly scalable, resilient, and maintainable independent bounded context while incorporating monitoring and observability capabilities.
  • Offer troubleshooting expertise for existing application maintenance.
  • Provide technical leadership and resolve roadblocks of junior engineers.
  • Perform and enforce technical design document and code review processes to ensure high-quality and maintainable code.
  • Foster an environment of knowledge sharing through documentation and continuous learning among team members.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in developing Java Enterprise (JEE) applications using Java
    Core Patterns on UNIX/Linux platforms, with experience in frameworks such
    as Spring Boot or Helidon.
  • Experience in designing REST API specifications with a focus on 
    efficiency and scalability.
  • A strong understanding of security and governance best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization tools like Docker and 
    orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and fundamentals of 
    distributed systems.
  • A clear understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) 
    with a demonstrated ability to take full ownership of a software module’.
  •  Exposure to Agile and DevOps methodologies to facilitate collaborative 
    and iterative development.
  • Hands-on experience in developing enterprise cloud application APIs using RESTful Web Services, leveraging JSON and Java
  • Exhibit a strong knowledge and comprehension of Oracle databases.
  • 5+ years of development experience in PL/SQL, packages, functions and procedures.
  • Have work on test-driven development.
