PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support the Retail Operations leadership team in managing and executing the daily operations, on both game days and non-game days, across all Progressive Field retail locations. Gain hands-on experience and mentorship to become an effective retail leader capable of driving both operational excellence and team performance. By combining operational efficiency with a passion for fan engagement, this role advances the Guardians’ mission to deliver a compelling ballpark experience while achieving strong retail performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Selling & Fan Engagement
- Drive merchandise sales results by turning sales goals into clear daily actions that boost revenue.
- Serve as a role model for the START with HEART service model, helping to foster a culture of proactive fan engagement and suggestive selling for retail gameday teammates.
- Uphold the Guardians’ "Image of Champions" standard to maximize sales opportunities and ensure fan satisfaction.
- Monitor daily sales performance, help leadership implement improvement strategies, and utilize game day sales reports to assist in decision-making.
Team Support & Development
- Partner with Retail Leadership on hiring, training, and developing retail gameday teammates cultivating a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Assist in implementing sales contests, recognition programs, and engagement initiatives that drive performance.
- Lead by example and act as a catalyst for team morale, motivating others through positivity and professionalism.
Merchandising
- Maintain a visually appealing and well-organized retail environment in alignment with company standards.
- Ensure timely execution of restocking, sizing adjustments, visual recovery, and markdowns.
- Communicate merchandise trends and opportunities, informed by daily sales insights and observed fan preferences, to enhance product strategy.
Operations/Loss Prevention
- Assist in the proper scheduling of store teammates to support the needs of the business.
- Assist in managing controllable operational expenses (supplies, maintenance, etc.) to achieve operational budget goals
- Understand and execute all management functions on the point of sale (POS) system, Teamwork Commerce, EXO and Clover.
- Perform and oversee key POS and inventory control functions, including receiving, product transfers, cycle counts, and year-end inventory processes.
- Understand and uphold loss prevention protocols to safeguard company assets and reduce shrink.
- Lead closing procedures and coordinate seasonal retail setup and takedown activities.
- Execute additional projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Retail Operations leadership.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or degree in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.

1–2 years of customer service, retail, or supervisory experience preferred (sports, hospitality, or entertainment environment a plus).

Demonstrated interest in developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Experience with POS systems beneficial but not required - training provided.

Willingness to learn all aspects of retail operations, including merchandising, sales analysis, and staff supervision.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively engage both fans and teammates.

Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift.

Ability to supervise a large part-time staff and motivate in a retail environment.

Drive and capability to consistently meet and champion sales objectives.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Availability for home baseball games and related events in alignment with business needs.

Game-day schedule: begin a minimum of 2.5 hours before gates open and remain at least 1 hour postgame.

Non-game-day hours will align with front office expectations based on workload and responsibilities.
