POSTING DETAILS:   - The Heat intern will join our team for 15 weeks, working 5-10 hours each week. - Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours. -You will need to upload a copy of your resume, transcripts and cover letter explaining how your skills are a good fit for this position, and must have a current GPA standing of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. - Compensation based on education and experience.

 

JOB SUMMARY: -We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom! This includes accessibility and providing accommodations for employees."   You would be a great fit if you have an interest in health equity and community public health specific to heat relief in Arizona.   In this role, you will be responsible for creating heat relief outreach materials. To be most effective, you'll be expected to conduct a literature review of cooling centers in Arizona. Familiarity with the social vulnerability index and other essential public health measures are critical to this position.    You will also have the opportunity to develop materials that will be used across the state!   You will be coached and mentored by the Heat Relief Coordinator and leadership within the bureau, including the Chief Heat Officer by collaborating with them on group projects.   YOU WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING TO THE INTERNSHIP:  ● Strong verbal and written communication skills. ● Knowledge of Google Workspace, including Google Sites, Forms, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive. ● Time management, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills. ●Knowledge of Canva or other design tools. YOU WILL GAIN THE FOLLOWING FROM THIS INTERNSHIP: ● Community health experience ● Publication of public health communications. ● Understanding of the importance of employee connectedness and well-being in a virtual work environment.  ● Collaboration with a diverse team of professionals. Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
