OMNI Engineering, a CRH company, started its business in 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska.  OMNI is involved in heavy highway construction as well as private and commercial site construction.  Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots.  Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.

  

Position Overview

The Driver/Laborer position includes operating the haul truck on a asphalt patching crew. On occasion employees will be required to work nights, and out of town. Additional duties include assisting on the patching crew. Exciting opportunity to perform multiple daily duties and earn above average pay. CDL Class A with tanker endorsement and air brake endorsement required.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Fuctions)

• Shoveling, raking and any duties assigned by foreman.
• May learn operation all types of asphalt paving equipment including; asphalt paver, screed, rollers, broom and skid steer.
• Operates dump truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials.     
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
• Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
• Load and unload equipment or materials.
• Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
• Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
• Unrolls truck tarp to cover loads when required.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
• Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
• Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions.
• Must keep vehicle in a clean and orderly condition.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• None, some experience in related asphalt and road construction preferred.
• Must maintain a CDL Class A with tanker endorsement and air brake endorsement required.
