About the Role

CharterUP is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect, implement, and own a wide variety of customer-facing software systems powering our two-sided marketplace business. You’ll work closely with our engineering leaders, product managers, and engineering team to design and build systems that will scale with our rapidly growing business needs. You will lead a wide variety of technology initiatives across multiple disciplines, including Web Applications, REST API Services, Mobile Apps, Data Engineering, and DevOps.

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Location: This position is based in Austin, TX (Hybrid: Monday, Wednesday, Friday in-office).

What You’ll Do

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software products.
• Partner with UX/UI designers to build intuitive, responsive user interfaces.
• Establish and advocate for software engineering best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
• Drive the technical vision, providing guidance on complex decisions.

What You’ll Bring

• 8–12+ years of experience as a professional full-stack software engineer.
• Proficient in building Java backend services and frontends using Vue, React, or Angular.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS.
• Proven track record of leading projects from concept to deployment in fast-paced environments.
• Hands-on coder who takes full ownership of complex, end-to-end deliverables.

Compensation: $180,000—$250,000 USD
