About the role

Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer (Associate, Experienced or Senior)

Company:

The Boeing Company

Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) is offering an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design and Analysis Engineer (Associate, Experienced, or Senior) to join the BCA Avionics Organization in Everett and Seattle, WA.

Position Overview:

The selected candidate will be part of one of three teams: Cross-Model Maintenance Systems Engineer, Airplane Modifiable Information (AMI) Engineer, or Aircraft Information Management System (AIMS) Engineer.

Cross-Model Maintenance Systems Engineer: This position offers a system/software design engineering opportunity within the cross-model Avionics Maintenance System. The Maintenance System integrates information from various airplane systems, with the primary goal of providing airline mechanics with insights into the health of the aircraft. It encompasses two main functions: the Central Maintenance Computing Function (CMCF) and the Airplane Conditioning Monitoring Function (AMCF). The focus of this role will be on creating and maintaining diagnostic databases, which will involve collaboration with teams across different airplane systems, as well as the development and testing of new software.

Airplane Modifiable Information (AMI) Engineer: This role involves the development of Airplane Modifiable Information (AMI) software across all airplane models. AMIs are essential for generating airplane system data performance reports utilized by airplane development system teams, BGS engineering, and airline customers. In the post-COVID landscape, as more airplanes return to service, there is a significant and growing demand from Boeing Systems teams and airline customers for these data performance reports. Additionally, there is a need for Customer AMI training. With the 777-9 approaching its Entry into Service (EIS), there will be an increased workload related to AMI for the 777-9.

Aircraft Information Management System (AIMS) Engineer: The AIMS team is seeking experienced and inquisitive systems and design engineers who are eager to tackle continuous technical and programmatic challenges to enhance the 777 aircraft fleet. AIMS serves as an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) hosting system, accommodating multiple flight-critical functions within a single hardware platform, including Flight Management, Displays, Flight Deck Communication Function, Central Maintenance Function, and more. AIMS engineers collaborate with all hosted systems to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software designs. This central perspective offers excellent exposure to the design and operation of modern transport aircraft systems. The role involves ensuring that product improvements, in-service issues, and regulatory mandates are thoroughly vetted, properly implemented, and certified on schedule, utilizing a disciplined systems engineering approach that emphasizes quality from requirements validation through lab and airplane test verification. Successful candidates will also engage in and contribute to the certification lifecycle of our Software Block Point development programs, from the inception of the certification plan through testing to FAA/EASA regulatory approval, providing in-depth exposure to the evolving regulatory landscape.

Engineers will collaborate across teams to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements. They will analyze and translate these requirements into system, hardware, and software designs, as well as interface specifications. The role includes testing and validating designs to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements. Engineers will also monitor supplier performance to guarantee system integration and compliance with established requirements. Additionally, they will address issues related to fielded hardware and software, providing support throughout the entire product lifecycle. This position involves researching specific technological advancements for potential application to the company's business needs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating with teams across airplane systems

  • Building and testing new software

  • System and software requirements generation and validation

  • System and software integration, testing and performance monitoring

  • Working effectively and well in a team setting
