Job Summary: The Shop Assistant must be an individual who can adapt to a fast-paced environment with an adherence to on-time delivery of parts. This person should have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn and ask questions about the manufacturing processes. This person must be flexible and willing to work in multiple departments as demand requires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Grinding and orbital sanding of welded parts
- Learn and perform manual deburring operations
- Remove tabs, slag, rust, and sharp edges as needed
- Learn to use various shop tools such as orbital sanders, timesavers, fladder, belt sanders and hand tools at an entry level
- Handle finished items in a careful manner to prevent damage
- Mask parts for paint/powder
- Wash parts in prep for paint/powder
- Clean parts in prep for outside process
- Pack and ship parts
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Function in a safe and reliable manner to prevent personal injury and/or property damage
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE
- Ability to learn to read blueprints
- Ability to learn how to use shop tools
- Demonstrates motivation and accountability to achieve individual and department goals
- Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members
- Demonstrates initiative and personal accountability to meet work demands and work effectively under pressure with supervision
- Ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and facility needs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to effectively produce high quality work
- Demonstrates teamwork by sharing knowledge and helping where needed
EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Experience in manufacturing or prototyping is a plus
- Entry level position
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, equipment
