JOB SUMMARY

Job Profile Summary
Supervises the maintenance activities of an area and provides support to ensure the achievement of project goals. Supervises a team of maintenance operators, technicians, coordinators, and supervisors who perform and plan maintenance duties. Coordinates and supervises tasks performed on facilities and equipment. Ensures compliance with contracts, regulations, training, and safety considerations. Maintains the organization's facilities, tools, and equipment. Supervises ongoing and new projects.

Provides leadership and supervises employees within span of control; coordinates department activities and assignments; ensures quality of subordinates' work; evaluates department processes and recommends and coordinates needed changes based on process analysis; makes decisions, solves problems; develops procedures, conducts meetings, manages employee hiring process, manages team performance; trains or provides for adequate training for employees; coaches, counsels, and motivates employees; addresses complaints or performance concerns; communicates job and performance expectations; implements corrective action as needed and in consultation with Human Resources; creates an ethical, non-discriminatory, and safe work environment; ensures compliance with Company policies; establishes effective communication lines/methods; manages conflict; accepts resignations; approves paid time off (PTO) and overtime (if applicable) and reviews and approves time sheets; completes annual performance evaluations with employees and provides periodic performance feedback throughout the year as needed.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Activities

    • Supervises the maintenance activities of an area and provides support to ensure the achievement of project goals.

    • Coordinates and supervises tasks performed on facilities and equipment.

    • Supervises maintenance operators and/or technician that perform daily maintenance activities. Provides direction on daily assignments.

    • Schedules personnel based on upcoming traffic and maintenance schedule.

    • Supervises and oversees maintenance project work (ie: tank cleaning and degassing, wastewater management, etc.)

    • Conducts scheduled maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting faults and undertakes repairs.

    • Selects, engages, and works with outside contractors.

    • Ensures the development and follow-thru of continuous improvement plans.

  • Projects

    • Develops repair project and expansion project scopes, obtains bids from contractors, leads bid reviews, creates bid matrix, and makes recommendations on contractor selection.

    • Negotiates with potential contractors.

    • Collaborates with the project team to safely complete expansion projects within budget and on time.

    • Identifies performance deficiencies/potential improvements and takes appropriate action.

  • Compliance

    • Ensures compliance with contracts, regulations, training and safety considerations.

    • Ensures that appropriate testing is performed, as required by Department of Transportation (DOT) and/or environmental regulations.

  • Miscellaneous

    • Orders supplies needed for identified projects, operations, lab, safety, truck and rail rack operations (ie: pumps, valves, pumps, etc).

    • Coordinates daily with Traffic & Inventory and Operations staff on customer product requirements.

  • Responsibilities may include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline. Job duties also require the employee to be alert and respond immediately to dangerous or hazardous conditions, and where impaired performance, or failure to follow safety precautions, could result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) is required for jobs located at marine facilities.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or vocational certificate preferred

Work Experience

  • 3 - 5 years related work experience preferred
