PGL, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler in our Fisher, Illinois location.
Job Summary
The role of the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler is to estimate and plan internal/external labor resources, material take-offs and write detailed work descriptions utilizing SAP PM to ensure work is being executed in the most cost effective manner. This position is also responsible in coordinating, bidding, determining sources of labor, materials and parts needed support all routine/non-routine work orders to be executed per the plant requirements to ensure we eliminate downtime and increase reliability. The planner/scheduler will also assign individual scheduling assignments to the mechanical maintenance staff based on the anticipated/existing plant performance and the equipment critically of all Non-Unit Outage Related Maintenance Activities. The planner/scheduler will be responsible for developing, maintaining and publishing a 5 week rolling schedule and 13 week back-bone schedule. The scheduler will also utilizes the Critical Path Method (CPM) principles and perform Resource Leveling of the existing plant staff sub-occupations with the work to be performed in order to anticipate schedule constraints one week in advance.
Job Responsibilities
- Has responsibilities for preparing work packages, optimizing the sequence of work, identifying concurrent work opportunities, checking for duplicate Work Orders, reviewing Work Order backlog, tracking planning metrics, and making improvements when required/needed.
- Determine best business cases for work order execution based-on costs and existing plant resources regarding sub-contracting maintenance activities.
- Responsible for bidding, writing, releasing and approving all purchase requisitions that relate to all planned work orders; while also ensuring accurate bids and controlling change orders to reduce scope growth.
- Responsible to help manage cost control for the department by reducing expenses, bidding work orders and planning work orders based on best business cases.
- Attend the morning screening meetings in order to assign and plan newly written notifications based on urgency, priority and criticality.
- Collaborate with the plant schedulers, supply chain and vendors to ensure all material and resources are on-hand prior to any work implementation.
- Conduct field walk downs to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance, modification and to provide input for refining and improving work package quality. Interface and collaborate with Work Management, Supply, Operations, and Engineering to identify and resolve work package issues.
- Define procedures, drawings, equipment and materials required to performing planned work packages. Facilitate package preparation by preparing and submitting clearances, plant barrier impairments, hot work permits, fire impairments, Regulatory/Code documentation, establish hold/witness points, and any other requests as needed.
- Develop and/or revise maintenance plans, maintenance items and task lists to include vendor specification manuals, drawings, procedures, needed materials, parts, code changes, scope of work clarifications based on feedback and engineering.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years' supervisory experience or appropriate industry experience.
- Candidates must be proficient with plant maintenance software such as IMPACT Plant Maintenance, Word, Excel and have basic understanding of work management process.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of Environmental, Safety and Regulatory is expected. Candidate should be motivated and must be able to work independently with limited supervision. Strong organizational skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four year degree in an accredited engineering or technical related curriculum (BSME, BSCE, BSEE, BSCM, etc.).
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices; utilization of various crafts and trades; facilities maintenance and the maintenance and repair of physical plant components and structures.
