Position Overview:

The Cost Accountant reports to the Controller, and is responsible for accurately processing, analyzing, and recording the daily business transactions of the company. Additionally, the position is responsible for ensuring all business activity is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and executed with appropriate financial management techniques and practices.

Essential Functions:

· Maintain the confidence of the corporation’s shareholders, lenders and board members through timely, accurate, and reliable financial reporting

· Support financial reporting by creating and reporting key variance analysis

· Partner across internal teams, solving complex business scenarios

· Identify, create, and perform key internal controls

· Participate in the month-end close process, including preparation of monthly journal entries, reserves and accruals; and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts

· Execute annual companywide E&O/warranty reserve analysis and work cross functionally to reduce excess positions

· Assist in Divisional FP&A and associated forecasting as needed

· Annual development and review of overhead rates

· Ensure profitable commercial contracts and customer deal analysis

· Extensive knowledge and experience with technical US GAAP, intercompany accounting and consolidation, and internal control development and documentation

· Support all other functional areas with world class metrics (KPI’s) that helps them achieve their objectives

· Partner with GM’s in implementing working capital improvement initiatives

· Responsible for applicable ASC 606 contract revenue recognition calculation and management

· Financial statement consolidation

· Fixed Asset Management

· Bi Weekly payroll Review

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

· Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask

· Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail

· Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required

· Excellent communication both written and verbal

· Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

· Working knowledge of ERP systems

· Cost accounting and inventory valuation critical

· Excellent interpersonal and teamwork capabilities

Education, Certifications and Experience:

· 10+ years of progressive industry experience in accounting

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance

· CPA license preferred but not required

· Aerospace experience a plus

· FAR and/or DFAR experience a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
