Job Summary
 

The Senior Associate Director, Global Partnership reports to the Senior Director for Global Initiatives and Strategy and is critical to advancing the University’s international partnerships and providing support to internal stakeholders in their engagement with collaborators abroad. This role identifies and cultivates opportunities for partnership with global academic institutions and foreign government in coordination with internal stakeholders, such as deans, department heads and other academic leaders to amplify the university's research and impact.

The Senior Associate Director will lead research and analysis to surface opportunities, will maintain a database on institutional partnership interactions, meet with external partners and provide general project management in the exploration of partnership opportunities on behalf of the University. This position leads the planning, development, and implementation of University objectives, long-range and strategic plans, and identifies the University’s strengths and weaknesses. Identifies new external partners to advance strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, analytical, and writing skills, and be approachable, responsive, efficient, and excellent in execution.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and evaluates strategic opportunities pertinent to the objectives of the University and its academic unit leaders.
  • Guides faculty and staff by providing best practices in partnership structures, process recommendations and connecting them to internal resources to bring programs to fruition. 
  • Negotiates and executes partnership agreements, ensuring compliance and alignment with University policies and objectives.
  • Oversees and coordinates the development of strategic programs on a project management basis, to include identification of funding sources, development of budgets and projections, and development and preparation of funding proposals for global partnerships and programs.
  • Oversees projects that involve extensive cooperation and coordination between offices and units.
  • Builds internal relationships and collaborates closely with colleagues and units across the University to leverage resources and maximize institutional research impact.
  • Represents the University in meetings and networking events with external partners to promote research capabilities and explore potential partnerships.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, funding opportunities and regulatory developments relevant to global partnership.
  • Leads the planning and execution of events, such as symposiums, conferences, workshops and seminars.
  • Supervises two or more direct reports responsible for partnership development, event planning and administrative support.
  • Prepares written and/or verbal presentations and proposals on complex issues and delivers to a broad variety of audiences.
  • Acts as a lead researcher and planner for a wide array of efforts led by the department/division.
  • Leads the creation and maintenance of an internation outreach database. Prepares and implements campus-based itineraries for visiting international delegations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

  • Graduate degree in a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of work experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified, including 7 or more years of work experience at an equivalent level of authority and/or scope.

  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
