Senior Tax Accountant - Indirect Tax

Job Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant will assist with a broad range of tax matters including compliance, audits, research, process improvement and accounting in indirect tax which includes both US sales and use and Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST. This role reports to the Tax Senior Manager.

Job Duties:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual US sales and use tax returns in all 50 states and Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST returns
• Prepare tax calculations and other information requested by auditors and service providers
• Research tax matters while documenting facts, issues, and conclusions
• Respond to business and customer inquiries relating to tax matters
• Assist and/or manage tax related special projects when requested
• Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries
• Performing basic tax research using tax research tools and other resources
• Analyze, reconcile, and summarize large data sets using Excel
• Create Ad-hoc reports and analysis as required

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (advanced degree or certification a plus)
• 3+ years of combined experience at a public accounting firm and in industry.
• 2+ years direct experience in preparing US state/local and use tax returns and Canadian GST/HST/PST/QST returns
• Must reside within a commutable distance to Brea, CA (Corp Office)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• SAP experience preferred
• Thomson Reuters experience preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially Excel).
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and do what it takes to meet deadlines
• Experience interacting with outside service providers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experienced to work under pressure
• Results-oriented with a focus on achieving overall business objectives
• Capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
• Must have the ability to think strategically
• Must be hands-on and highly motivated
• Must be driven, resilient, effective & resourceful

Target Market Salary Range:

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
