Job Description:
Prepare, manage, and maintain the Simulation and Jr-Sr Lab under the supervision of Office of Clinical Administration with assistance from Academic Technology Support, Academic Affairs and Continuing Dental Education personnel.  Set up of UFCD pre-clinic simulation laboratory, audio-visual equipment, and training for pre-clinical courses. Train dental students in proper care and use of the simulators and lab equipment. Maintain, stock, and check all safety and first aid equipment & supplies. Ensure all lab users are familiar with basic safety equipment and protocols. Inventory, order, stock and dispense countertop/white paper, paper towels, soap, and other disposable products. Supervise OPS student(s) in maintaining simulation lab hygiene and organization, (if applicable). Prepare the simulator lab for the ADEX dental/dental hygiene licensing examinations. Coordinate laboratory supplies ordered through student lab fees with direct input to the Student Leasing Program. . Place IT tickets to provide repair and upgrade of existing AV equipment. Examine equipment to detect leaks, worn or loose parts, or other signs of disrepair. Help others understand laboratory equipment safety and operating policies and procedures. Documents defective equipment and reports it to an appropriate supervisor and/or dental maintenance. Utilizes quality control techniques to monitor and maintain laboratory equipment. Identifies the major concepts and stages of laboratory practice quality assurance. Secure lab at the end of day and report any incidents of equipment abuse or room cleanliness. Post next day’s lab activities outside door on a daily basis. Oversee the cleanliness and supply inventory of the JR-SR Lab. Manage the student assistants.   Participate with UFCD Student Dentist Leasing Program, by assisting with order, supply, and maintenance of instruments and equipment used by student dentists  Assist in equipping and setting up pre-clinic labs that require equipment from the Leasing program. Be the liaison for Course Directors in the ordering and setting up of supplies and equipment for their courses which are given in the Simulation Lab. Maintain, assign, and issue all gray locker keys and simulator keys. Biannually perform gray locker inspections and document any discrepancies. Maintain and assign Pros lockers to D3’s. Responsible for Senior check-out from Jr/Sr and Pros lockers.   Backup Central sterilization:  This position is cross trained to provide support as needed for Central Sterilization  The cross training includes in-depth knowledge of the instrument/equipment reprocessing protocols for safe patient care at UFCD. The incumbent operates and maintains a variety of sterilization equipment.   Coordinate disposal of hazardous waste materials for UFCD clinics/clinical laboratories. Attend annual training with EH&S and inspections. Manage proper disposal of hazardous waste for the clinics at the Gainesville campus.   Special projects as assigned by Clinic Administration.

Expected Salary:

$19.16/hr, commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:   • OSAP-DALE Foundation Dental infection Prevention and Control Certificate Program, dental assisting experience, sterile equipment processing experience, dental equipment/lab/computer, and AV equipment knowledge.
