Guthrie Cortland Medical Center in Cortland, NY is hiring a critical care nurse to work in our dynamic and fast-paced ICU nursing unit.  You will provide the most specialized and skilled care to our patients while serving as a source of comfort and concern to families and co-workers. The ICU Nursing Unit at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center cares for critically ill patients in our 12-bed nursing unit. Our professional nurses have 24/7 access and support from the Intensivist Medical Group, respiratory therapy, laboratory, social work, spiritual care and other critical care professionals across the Guthrie continuum of care.

Job Summary:

Responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Directs and guides patient teaching and the activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Understands and adheres to GCMC’s Compliance Standards as they appear in GCMC’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.   Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and GCMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

Experience:       

• Entry level-graduate per Education requirements
• Specialty Units-At least 1 year of medical-surgical nursing preferred.  (i.e. ICU, Maternity, Psych)

Skills:

• See core competencies and unit specific competencies

Licensure/Certificates/Certification:

• Current NYS license to perform as a registered professional nurse
• Current BLS-CPR certification required (or within first 30 days of employment)
• Specialty Unit - Maternity – Neonatal Resuscitation Certification within 6 months of employment
• Specialty Unit –ICU- ACLS within 6 months of hire
