Job Description

The Senior Manager, Strategic Marketing is a key member of the global Urology / Gynecology Strategic Marketing team. He/She plays a critical role in Strategic Business & Long-Range Financial Planning processes, in addition to Patient Care Pathway and North-Star activities for the global business unit. This individual also has responsibility for identifying new growth and global expansion opportunities for the business unit, with a focus on adjacencies and inorganic (business development / M&A) opportunities. They will collaborate with peers across the globe on market research and analysis and will lead initiatives to drive our business objectives.

Job Duties

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification, and assessment of significant growth opportunities.
  • Support the Business Unit Strategy Leader in the strategic and financial planning processes such as Strategic Business Planning and Long-Range Planning, or key deliverables / workstreams within those processes, on behalf of the business unit to create the vision and mission and layout the overall Global Portfolio Strategy and Strategic 5-year plan to successfully achieve targets.  
  • Serve as global business unit representative on task forces and other projects as assigned, such as development of patient care pathways and north star long-term strategy.
  • Partner with product portfolio leads to develop strategies for therapeutic growth pillars, inclusive of competitive intelligence reporting and execution of market research activities to drive business portfolio decisions.
  • Identify and engage with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) as appropriate to inform around market and customer needs.
  • Analyze market data to develop insights, identify trends, and establish a roadmap of actions to capitalize on identified opportunities.  Partner closely with the Global Market Intelligence team to ensure that the right market data and competitive landscape assessments are available for the segment specifically and that there is a plan to fill gaps for key areas of focus (product segments) in all key regions of existing business and planned expansion.
  • Develop a strong understanding of global markets inclusive of market opportunity, market trends, unique customer & market needs, purchasing entities / processes, and Olympus presence / capabilities.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams across the organization and drive influence on behalf of the global business unit.
  • Maintain expertise by attending procedures, courses, workshops, tradeshows, and staying abreast of market dynamics, competitive landscape and global industry changes and technological advancements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required in relevant field, Masters or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within medical devices, diagnostics, and/or pharmaceuticals
  • Minimum 6 years of business experience is required (ideal candidate will have a blend of new product development, marketing product innovation, upstream marketing and/or downstream marketing)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

 

Preferred:

  • Sales and/or marketing experience in a regional commercial organization in a medical device organization is highly preferred.
  • Experience in strategy management consulting or similar, preferred.
  • Good negotiating, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Skilled at managing through influence.
