Generate was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering and has received over $420 million in funding, providing the resources to rapidly scale the organization. The Company has offices in Somerville and Andover, MA with approximately 250 employees.

The Role:

The Sr. Manager of Strategy will help execute on the highest-priority, high-impact strategy and operational projects across the company. They will report to the Director of Strategy.

The successful candidate is comfortable with ambiguity and able to articulate key findings to senior business leaders. The Sr. Manager has the ability to rapidly establish credibility, trust, and respect across the organization, specifically in the R&D organization, in order to operate as a true strategic thought partner across the business. They need to be able to appropriately balance multiple priorities and work against tight timelines. Given the high visibility to Executive Leadership, this role presents excellent career advancement opportunities.

The position is Boston based.

Key responsibilities:

• Execute high-priority, high-impact Strategy projects independently (within function) and cross-functionally with other parts of the Generate Biomedicines organization (e.g., R&D, Platform, Finance) with a focus on the R&D functions within Generate
• Partner with other Strategy and Innovation teams (MR/CI/Forecasting, BD & Alliance Management, G:Labs, Platform/Data strategy) to establish the long-range business plan, translating vision and strategy into a long-term, executable plan with identified resources, timelines and value creation
• Define and drive processes to evolve and mature Generate (i.e., Operating model, Governance, Corporate Calendar)
• Manage external vendors who support respective projects / functions (e.g., CI/Market research etc.)
• Create purposeful workplace for team members, connecting their individual contributions to the Generate Biomedicines mission / vision / values
• Lead with authenticity and sense of urgency that inspires the team to communicate openly and thrive together

About you

Preferred Qualifications:

• A. or B.S. degree (or equivalent) in life science or other relevant field
• Experience in healthcare or life science consulting
• 3+ years of professional experience, including project management
• Proven track record of executing complex strategy projects

Skills:

• Curious, sharp business acumen, superior analytic and communication skills
• Results-driven, high-performer with highly collaborative style; able to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization
• Deep R&D and life science strategy expertise
• Strong financial toolkit (e.g., experience in NPV/DCF modelling, competent in P&L teardowns)
• Highly self-motivated with demonstrated agility to multitask, manage time, handle uncertainty, and work under pressure with limited oversight
• Excellent computer skills, especially PowerPoint and Excel required
• Experience with digital analytics (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx) preferred
