Your Role and Responsibilities

IBM Research is looking for a Senior Research Manager that will Influence the functional & IBM Hybrid Cloud strategy. Must be able to lead and manage direct and matrix teams aligned to strategy vision; also advocates for their proposals to influence the strategy. The role has a broad scope as well and may include responsibility for developing strategic offering and portfolio business models, communicate business and technical POV, business metrics. May also help capitalize on new business opportunities to drive and sustain innovation, market differentiation and industry leadership.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience driving projects into production, preferably related to AI platform
• Experience overseeing projects requiring tight coordination between multiple cross disciplinary teams
• Experience providing project updates to senior executives, flagging and resolving key technical and business risks
• Excellent technical, problem-solving, partnering, and communication skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Kubernetes/OpenShift, AWS, GCP, Azure) and their machine learning services.
• Experience with advanced AI algorithms and distributed training technologies (e.g., FSDP).
