Kwaan Bear Technology is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cyber Defense Systems Specialist to lead critical cyber defensive systems efforts at Ft. Belvoir, VA. This is a senior-level role requiring a deep understanding of Linux systems, automation, and cybersecurity operations in mission-critical environments.

You will lead the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of secure operating systems and cyber defense technologies. You will also play a key role in infrastructure automation, system hardening, and integrating cybersecurity solutions into high-performance environments.
What You’ll Do:
- Configure, manage, and maintain advanced Linux and VMware based cyber defense systems.
- Design and implement secure infrastructure with backup and restoration capabilities.
- Automate critical operations and maintenance tasks using Ansible, REST APIs, and scripting.
- Build and configure hardened cyber defense hardware and software solutions.
- Integrate security tools (e.g., Elastic, SIEM platforms, identity management).
- Coordinate multi-node cluster deployments
- Enable cloud-based virtual infrastructure aligned to “standard build” requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders to develop role-based access controls and secure workflows.
Preferred Tech Stack & Skills:
- Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), VMware
- Automation: Ansible, Python, REST APIs, Git, CI/CD workflows
- Security Tools: Elastic, AD/SSO integration, PostgreSQL
- Cloud & Virtualization: AWS, OpenShift, VMware, and Virtual Infrastructure
- Integration experience with PostgreSQL and/or Ansible a plus .
Requirements:
- 8+ years of relevant cybersecurity and systems engineering experience
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years in cyber defense operations and secure system administration
- Certifications (preferred but not required):
- Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
- Red Hat Specialist in Security or Virtualization
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate
- CySA +
- CASP CE
