Job Description
HII Mission Technologies Newport News Direct Support is seeking candidates to join out CVN Electronics Test Engineering team at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News Virginia. This position would require a candidate to qualify as an Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE)/ Chief Test Engineer (CTE) within 6 months of onboarding to support Combat Systems and CVN Electronics Test Engineering.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
- Candidate should have an Electronics Test CVN 78 Class or CVN 68 Class Lead Test Engineer (LTE) Qualification or the ability to attain LTE Qualification within 6 months. CVN78 Class qualification preferred.
- Candidate should have the capability to direct, manage and satisfactorily conduct, complete and certify all required complex tactical warfare/combat pier side and at-sea industrial testing; coordinate and clear government work, certifications and certify all delivery requirements are met. This skill requires and in-depth technical and operational knowledge for numerous US NAVAL Surface tactical Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Collaboration and Intelligence systems as well as multiple Precision Aircraft Landing Systems. This critical skill also has to develop flight profiles from test requirements using system and ship operational knowledge as well as coordinate the actual aircraft flights underway.
- Experience as a CVN CSMO (Preferred) or CVN Combat Systems Division Officer making critical decisions about manning, production goals and schedule for one or more of the following divisions; CS6 RADAR Division, CS7 Weapons Division, CS8 IC Division and/or CS9 RF Communications Division.
- Should be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers including Waterfront Construction Management, Design Engineering, Test Engineering, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, SPAWAR, NAVAIR, ISEA and Ship's Force.
- Good leadership skills and project management experience (test coordination, resource planning, budgeting and test scheduling).
- Compilation of lessons learned during ship availability.
- Understanding of test requirements and ability to provide inputs for the Basis of Estimate (BOE).
- Responsible for the correct/accurate and timely scoping of AWP items during the planning evolution.
- Active participant in Test Planning meetings.
- Excellent writing skills to write technical reports and perform the final Engineering Reviews of test procedures.
