SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Treasury Room Manager, this position performs general collecting, counting, verifying, and processing revenue from Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Buses and Light Rail Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) within compliance with established policies and procedures as related to the area of assignment. The daily shift for this role will begin at 6am. Employees may be subject to working occasional weekends. This is an on-site position; remote or work-from-home arrangements are not available.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform revenue servicing of TVMs capable of learning software within TVM to remove coin and bill receptacles and replace full ones with empties.
  • Operate coin counting machines efficiently, preparing and recording the correct amount on all deposit bags
  • Process all Currency at a consistent pace for bank-facing and banding bills.
  • Prepare daily accounting reports and ensures that records are maintained in accordance with CATS Retention Schedule
  • Considerable experience with clerical work and dealing with customers.

Additional duties as assigned:

  • Stand in as backup when the team lead is out
    • Prepares the bus/light rail paperwork for submission to CATS Accounts Receivable for daily journal entry.
    • Pulls the cash on hand reports for the routes out of the TVM reporting system.
    • Assist with daily vault pullers audit report checks in Genfare Reporting to ensure audit boxes are correct.           
  • Perform Revenue Servicing of TVMs.
  • Monitor TVM performance closely in online GFI.
    • Escalates to the Bus Operations Division (BOD) Electronics shop any major malfunctions.
    • Resolves or reports any issues to electronic in a timely manner resulting from monitoring Genfare Reporting.
    • Document TVM errors in designated software.
  • Assist BOD Electronics shop in TVM parts change-out.
  • As part of your responsibility to support the CATS Safety Culture, report safety concerns and issues through the various methods established by CATS as outlined in the ASP. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of cash handling and balancing processes
  • Ability to type at least 40 wpm
  • Ability to write and converse effectively in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs required
  • Ability to work flexible hours required
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, and kneel for extended periods of time

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (prefer an associate degree in business or related)
  • Three years of experience in cash handling and guest service experience in financial services or retail sales.
  •  Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain City driving permit
  • Final Candidate subject to polygraph examination.
