Okta is hiring a Culture & Executive Communications Manager to help develop and deliver strategic communications that will elevate Okta’s story to diverse audiences. 

This is a high-profile, global role that will lead communications for our Chief People & Places Officer (CPPO), and play a pivotal role in advancing Okta’s corporate reputation, culture, talent brand and thought leadership. The role will partner closely with Corporate Communications, Marketing, and key business divisions and is ideal for a dynamic communicator who thrives in an ever-evolving, fast-moving, and highly collaborative environment. 

In addition to working with the CPPO, this role will look across the People & Places organization to partner with key program owners on external-facing communication deliverables to ensure alignment with the CPPO voice and talent brand.

This person will report to the Chief of Staff, People and Places, and will be based in the United States.

Responsibilities:

Executive Communications

  • Design and drive executive communication strategy, messaging development, and content creation for the Chief People & Places Officer that aligns to and clearly articulates the talent brand, company values, and key business priorities 
  • Actively partner with the Corporate Communications and Marketing teams, People and Places stakeholders, key business divisions (GTM, Legal, and Investor Relations) to ensure alignment of messaging, timing, and editorial strategies; seek and prepare for external and internal speaking opportunities
  • Leverage human-centered writing and creative storytelling to outline and develop impactful speeches, presentations, social media content, media soundbites, bylines and other written materials.
  • Advise and support the CPPO with strategic input on delivery of inspirational messaging, tone, and positioning that resonates with diverse audiences.
  • Continually measure and evaluate communications impact and effectiveness and adjust accordingly to mirror Okta’s growth. 
  • Manage and support internal People & Places communications programs, such as team All Hands, newsletters and organizational announcements.

Talent Brand, Culture & DEI Communications 

  • Collaborate closely with People & Places stakeholders, Marketing, and Corporate Communications teams to support external communications aligned to Okta’s talent brand and CPPO voice
  • Create compelling messages, campaigns, and materials for external facing programs, including culture and ERG/DEI programs, benefits/well-being, workplace/new office expansions, recruiting partnerships, etc.
  • Create engaging content for various communication channels, including social media, company website, reports, blogs, and other external facing channels.

  • Stay updated and informed about industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements related to diversity, pay and benefits communications

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant executive communications experience, with at least four years working with C-level executives.
  • Experience working with Culture, DEI or Talent/HR programs preferred
  • Exceptional executive presence and presentation skills, including experience coaching leaders and handling confidential content; ability to take feedback and iterate content quickly
  • Excellent human-centered writing, copyediting, and storytelling skills with ability to simplify complex topics and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Understanding of visual storytelling, multimedia and modern communications platforms
  • Strong business and technical acumen; interest in Okta’s business and the competitive landscape.  
  • Strong project management skills, detail-oriented, and thrives working in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
