Role Summary

The Crew Staffing Analyst supports the short-to-mid-term pilot staffing forecast across multiple fleets. This role assists in tracking key staffing inputs such as attrition trends, training release schedules, and pilot vacation data. Working under the guidance of senior analysts, this role helps identify potential staffing constraints and contributes to solutions that support operational needs. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to make decisions for short-term staffing strategy and identifies any areas of concern and strategizes how to reduce the impact.

Key Duties

  • Supports the maintenance of short- to mid-term pilot staffing models by tracking seat, base, and fleet-level data and assisting in identifying areas where flying may need to be adjusted.
  • Assists in aligning short- and mid-term staffing models with long-term forecasts, helping to gather and review data on trends that could influence future planning.
    • This includes preparing forecasts for pilot bid eligibility, non-flying credit hours, training availability, attrition estimates, and reserve line projections.
  • Contributes to base-level pilot staffing models by helping to track and update forecasts for ALV (Available Line Value), TLV (Total Line Value), and reserve requirements.
    • Helps create and maintain reports that monitor key metrics by base and seat that impact PBS (Preferential Bidding System).
  • Provides data and insights to support hiring plans, aiming to balance pilot availability with flying needs, especially during lower-demand periods.
  • Collaborates with Crew Scheduling to gather feedback on reserve coverage challenges and helps incorporate that information into daily reserve planning tools.
  • Prepares and reviews regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and scorecards to help validate reserve staffing needs by base and support PBS planning.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of experience working with analytics and/or business intelligence in Treasury, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, administration management, Aviation or similar business-related area, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Proven experience of applying data driven results and best practices to influence operational action.
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail driven with the ability to produce accurate results.
  • Highly self-motivated, able to work independently or in a team, to meet business objectives.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and follow through with a variety of division initiatives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Experience with data mining tools (e.g., Brio, Tableau, Power BI, SQL)
  • Working knowledge of the Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement and Flight Operations Training Manual
  • Innovative thinker, ability to evaluate and promote process improvement through analytical trends.
  • Basic competency in business mathematics or financial analysis.

Starting Rate

Salary Range

$76,400 -- $114,600 / year

Bonus

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
