JOB FUNCTION:
Supervises crew personnel in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all overhead transmission and distribution lines, substations, substation equipment of all voltages up to 138kV. Supervises crew personnel in the installation, maintenance, and operation of all non-leaded cable installations of all voltages up to 69kV (distribution voltage for Oahu only).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works with and directs crews to perform construction and maintenance work on overhead and non-lead underground transmission and distribution lines.
- Works with crews in underground, substations and substation equipment installations.
- Works on energized primary Transmission and Distribution equipment up to an operating voltage of 69kV using protective equipment as required.
- Works directly with System Operations to obtain both emergency and planned holdoffs.
- Drives and operates T&D vehicles and equipment.
- May be required to be transported by helicopter.
- Responsible for the completion of job and inspection reports and other paperwork including electronic data input as required.
- Conducts and documents daily tailboards and any job changes.
- Applies Company’s safety and construction standards, departmental work standards, and other applicable rules and procedures.
- May lead more than one crew on large projects. If leading three or more crews, a Crew Foreman will be upgraded to temporary Field Supervisor.
- Is responsible for the safety and training of all personnel under direction.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs similar and incidental duties of all lower classifications in the LOP as required.
- Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to obtain a State of Hawaii commercial driver's license (CDL). Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
- Must qualify through established selection process including a Job Sample Test. Candidates are evaluated and selected by a 5-member joint Company (3) and Union (2) committee.
- May be required to be transported by helicopter.
